The Royal Oak

Royal Oak SignThe original Royal Oak was an eighteenth century posting house that stood very close to the location of the present building, and was demolished in the early 1930's.

Two coaches left for London every morning (except Sunday), the True Blue at 8am, and the Tally Ho at 9:15am.

The second Royal Oak is considerably bigger than its predesessor and was built to service a different kind of coach traffic. It is currently used as a pub and Beefeater restaurant.
